My daughter has been working at the Langley Branch for 1 1/2 years, when she was hired she was promised that there would be lots of work, but the max shifts she has received has been 2 in a week. She has gotten numerous customers commenting on what a great job she does, her co workers enjoy working with her, she was the only one who was interviewed to agree to work the 5 am shifts.

She has been attending school since last March and will be done this Feb, but she is only unavailable Monday, Tuesdays and Wednesday mornings! THIS KID WANTS TO WORK and the last 4weeks she has had one 4hour shift! What the heck Old Navy, I'm telling all my friends to boycott because you treat your student staff like ***! Ya my kid could quit and at this rate she will, but it's tough for young adults to find work these days and so she's hanging on to whatever she can get!

Jobs that I have worked at the management struggle to find people who are willing to work, but Old Navy this is ridiculous! Get your *** together!

Location: Burnaby, British Columbia

I feel like your daughter doesn't want to work as much as you think she does. If she did, she wouldn't have spent the last 1 and a half years at this place being treated like this.

If she really wanted to work, she would have found another job or would be complaining herself.

Its not that hard for young adults who have been employed to find retail or fast food work. You telling your friends to boycott Old Navy will just hurt the young people even more because they'll get less hours because of less business.

Less money = less hours available for the store to give out to sellebrities. You telling people not to shop there is kind of funny...since you're making it so they'll get even less money and less hours for your kid to not be scheduled for.

They obviously don't need her to work the times she is available to work because someone else works those hours. Should old navy get rid of that person so your daughter can work instead?

It's good she wants to work but if it is really that important to her she can find a different job offering more hours.

It might not be a job she likes but it'll be steady employment. She has had 1 1/2 years to figure something out so maybe she doesn't care about it as much as you do :roll

I work at Old Navy too and this is typically the slowest time of year for us, with less revenue comes less hours it's just a fact of retail. If your daughter really needs the hours she should speak to a manager or find another job.

Why isn't your young adult daughter doing her own complaining? If she had to change hours because of school, that is why she isn't getting more hours.

That is the way stores do things, when you aren't available to work certain hours they cut your hours. Of course she is telling you she has numerous customers telling her about the great job she does, and of course she is telling you her co-workers enjoy working with her. Do you expect her to tell you otherwise.

When she tells you things like that she is on her "pitty pot" and wants you to think her problems are all the fault of the store.

Cut the apron strings, mommy.

You're entitled to your opinion, but you don't know me or my daughter! So go counsel someone else thanks. I only want to hear from management.
