I bought a sweater around Christmas and kept the receipt. I was busy and did not return it until after 90 days.

Even though I had the receipt showing the original price paid, they refused to refund this amount. First, they said they would have to send me a gift card via the mail for this amount, then they said they would only offer me the current "sale" price, despite the fact that I presented the receipt!

This is a ridiculous policy and I wil no longer shop at Old Navy! They really neeed to get thier act together before they lose more customers as I will no longer shop there.

Same thing with me. Paid $24.95 for a sundress it was a week after the 90 days.

Never worn. Tags on.

receipt in hand. They offered me $2.39

I will stick with Kohl's

I had my credit card receipt but they said I needed the store receipt for a return. I lost $50. Beware of Old Navy they suck

Guest

You can't expect a store trying to make a profit to accept a sweater to return past season. Waiting 3 months to return something and expecting full price after the season is over is ridiculous.

Guest

THREE MONTHS is enough time to return something. Sorry, but this is a dumb complaint. If it was a winter item, and you are trying to return it in summer, you may as well shred the item and return a bag of scraps, because it's worthless by then.

Guest

Yep old navy just lost another customer due to lack of customer service.....these idiots need to get a clue! I've worked in retail for years and have never seen a more ridiculous and *** return policy...Apparent, the return policy matches the company and its employees! Reporting to the better business bureau ASAP

Guest

You really have no one to blame but yourself here....I mean the receipt CLEARLY states that you have 90 days from the date of purchase to return it, which in all honesty is very fair because almost all retailers only give you 30 days. You shouldn't be complaining to Old Navy, that's for sure. Maybe you should have not waited more than 3 months to return something that didn't work out LOL.

Guest

It's usually the same at all stores. If the receipt is expired you will only get back the current sale price not what you paid.

Guest

After 90 days, the item will probably be hard to sell due to season changes so the company doesn't want to risk it sitting on the shelf taking up prime real estate for something else that will sell.

I bought pants online for a Christmas gift on December 1, 2013 and could not find the receipt, so I printed out the online order. The store could not look up the invoice and told me they could give me less than $2 for the pants. By the time I found the invoice, the 45 DAYS (!) I had to return the item had passed.

IT IS THE LAST TIME I VISIT SHOP AT OLD NAVY.

Macy's, Eddie Bauer, Penneys, Kohl's and LL Bean offer much better policies, so I will shop there.

I must say that I have not worked at Old Navy, but have worked retail and think the employee comments are a little volatile.

First of all, this woman may have not made it to the store in 3 months. She did not detail why. It could have been a serious problem like a family member or child were suddenly ill, in the hospital and/or dying. Perhaps she was in the middle of moving to a new home or was away on business trips for an extended period of time. You never know what personal causes may have delayed the return that was TOO PERSONAL to disclose while sharing her upset at her experience.

Secondly, my husband tried to return an unworn item with tags and even the hanger was not removed within 1 week of the purchase but had forgotten the receipt and obviously did not have my debit card. He asked for a store credit and at the reduced sale price as the item was now on sale and he was told he would be charged $5 to complete the return in order to receive an immediate in-store credit/exchanged. The sale price was $10.50. The sales clerk was also abrupt and rude in things that were said to my husband and we will now have to make another trip to attempt to return the item again.

And yes, as a mother who works a 40 hour FT job and a 30 hour part time volunteer job and a husband that clocks similarly 50-60 hours a week himself, it IS difficult to remember everything you need to do and get done in your limited free time. So when you need to deal with a rude service rep and have to make multiple attempts to return an item, it can be angering and frustrating as a consumer.

I will admit that it disappointing that most retail associates of Old Navy have the same attitude toward their costumers and only a few voice them face to face, the others however choose to say the same rude tings behind a keyboard. Educate yourselves. YOu can get your point accross using words and tones that are more appropriate and are not trolling on a person who was distraught.

Also, don't forget that the core function of your job is to service the customer's needs. If you dislike doing it, leave. find another career. I did. I got burnt out after 10 years of thre month doubles with no days off.

By replying in a forum in such ways you're not only making your company look bad, but you yourself look rather ignorant and uneducated.

i hardly think anyone couldnt get there in 3 months time line if you really cant donate your clothing to people in need if you could dare find the time to drop it off you apperently have a busy life you must have "plenty" of money so dont be dumb and complain yall are worse then teenagers GROW UP :roll :upset :zzz :(

This *** me off. It's people like you that I hate dealing with on a day to day basis.

FIRST OF ALL. If you have no free time within 90 days to return your item, whether it be because of your job, or you live a while away from the closest old navy, I suggest you TRY THE ITEM ON before you buy it. If you know you can't make it back within the 90 days, put a little more care and thought into your purchases. That's irresponsible personal financing.

SECONDLY, our return policy CLEARLY states on EVERY receipt that you have 90 days to return it. That's more than most places! Why would we want to take a return on something that's 3 months old? It wouldn't sell!

That would cost us money. You should be thankful they offered you anything at all, because with the return policy, we aren't obligated to give you ANYTHING.

Next time you want to return something, put consideration into the stores policies and RESPECT THAT. Especially since they still offered you SOMETHING!

How do you not find time? When the store(s) are not located near a Metro-Rail station and you just can't make an extra 3-3.5 hours in your weekend to take the MetroRail and a MetroBus, in both directions, to be transported to their big-box center locations.

I took advantage of meeting a friend for lunch near one of their locations, knowing I would be given a ride home after lunch (I was buying lunch, as a Christmas present.)

"Seasonal" merchandise, maybe, but basic shirts & pants (in my case, two pairs of khakis, of different styles)...? A store credit, even if mailed, should be available.

Guest

If they were to return an item to you AFTER 90 days, at the full price that you paid, they would be CRAZY. If they allowed that, they would lose money left, right and centre because their items generally go on clearance after 2 weeks anyways.

Then everyone could buy the nicer, full priced items, return them 4 months later, get all their money back, and then repurchase at the ridiculously low clearance price. I think not

Guest

I work at old navy, and I have purchased items there. On the receipt, it states about returning items within 90 days!!

That is three months!! It's not Old Navy's fault you're too darn lazy to return items before 90 days.

Stop blamin others for your incompetence. It's you fault you didn't return it on time!
